GP Registrar
Bridgegate Surgery is a training practice and from time to time the team will be joined by a fully qualified doctor undertaking supervised training to become a fully registered General Medical Practitioner. The training may involve video recording of consultations (for later discussions with the trainer). If at any time you are uncomfortable with this, please notify a receptionist so that we can fully respect your wishes. We will require your consent prior to, and after, any video consultation. If you have any reservations afterwards, we will erase the video record.
Practice Staff
Supporting the clinical work of the doctors, we have two nurses
and two health care support workers who deal with a wide range of services independently
but with access to GPs when required.
Kerry Muscott, our senior practice nurse, is a qualified RGN
(1981). She joined the practice in February 2004. Sheldron
Woodcock is a qualified RGN (1994) who joined the team in March 2003.
Their work is varied and includes general health screening,
vaccination, travel advice, ear syringing, dressings and injections, as well
as specific clinics for asthma, diabetes and coronary heart
disease.
Nursing In The Community
We have a well integrated team of district nurses who work in close liaison with our doctors to provide care at home when it is not possible for you to visit the surgery. There is routine daily contact between nurses and doctors to exchange information and concerns where necessary.
Health Visitor
A health visitor who is based at Retford Primary Care Centre will give help and advice to Bridgegate Surgery patients and she can be contacted through the surgery. She is concerned with the health of the community and, using her specialist skills, training and experience, she will support all age groups, but especially children and their families and patients requiring pre- and postnatal advice.
Midwife
A midwife employed by Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust provides
care for the practice's antenatal patients. Clinics are held at the surgery between
1.30 and 3.30pm on Tuesdays for new bookings.
Practice Management And Support
The practice manager will be pleased to discuss any non-medical problems
and suggestions for improving the service we offer. The Practice Manager is supported by secretarial
staff who maintain the computerised patient records and deal with correspondence
moving between doctors and hospital consultants as well as the routine administration
needed to support the work of the surgery.
In reception we have a mixture of full and part-time staff to provide cover as required.
We operate a separate administration service for patients seeing the nurse, to ensure the proper management of samples taken for hospital investigation. Nurse admin has a direct line: 01777 863457 so that you can telephone the nurse administrator for nurse appointments and for test results. This line is not manned from 11.30 am until 2.00 pm.
Our receptionists are fully trained and have a lot of information at their fingertips which could probably answer many of your queries. If you are unsure about the need to consult a doctor or nurse the reception staff will be able to offer advice. You can always speak to a receptionist in private - please ask and a room will be made available. In order to help obtain the best service they may sometimes need to judge the urgency of your request by asking questions. All our staff are subject to the rules of confidentiality you would expect at a doctor’s surgery. A brief discussion will enable them to suggest the appropriate action or offer the most suitable appointment.
